Robert Chazz Chute

Ancient history? After graduating from The University of King’s College with an honours degree in Journalism, I worked for daily newspapers (The Chronicle-Herald and Mail Star), graduated from the Banff Publishing Workshop (Books and Magazines) and moved to Toronto to work in book publishing.

I’ve been a proofreader and slush pile evaluator (Harlequin), a publicist and senior editor (The Canadian Book Information Centre) and a book sales rep (Lester & Orpen Dennys and Cannon Book Distributors.) During that time I was also a co-founder of The Point, The Newsletter of Newsletters and junior editor for Film Canada Yearbook. I also vetted fiction manuscripts for authors.

After 18 years working in the alternative health field, I got back on the freelance wagon, wrote some speeches and features and the regular back page column for Massage & Bodywork Magazine for which I was nominated for a Maggie Award. These days, I’m spending all my time writing and polishing manuscripts again full-time and prepping weekly podcasts.

Other Awards:

Chazz has won seven writing awards to date, including third place in the Toronto Star’s Annual Short Story Competition and the high placement in the Writer’s Digest annual writing competition in several categories (essay, inspirational, memoir and horror.)

“Robert Chute is professional, reliable and a great writer. I have no hesitation recommending him as a researcher and writer.”
